A new look at the history of the Toronto FC logo

A new logo has been unveiled for the Toronto Maple Leafs, which is set to become the oldest ever team logo in Major League Soccer.
Toronto FC, which plays its home games at BMO Field in Toronto, will wear the logo for the first time on its jerseys, a design unveiled in February.
The team says the design was inspired by a “new era of Canadian soccer history” when the first professional team in Canada was established.
The logo features the team’s colors and stripes of yellow and black, as well as the team name, and is meant to “reflect a positive identity for the city of Toronto,” according to the team.
Toronto will wear a red jersey for the game against the Montreal Impact on Saturday.
It will be the first match in the new logo’s history.
The new logo features a new black and white design for the black and blue stripes, which are the colors used on the Toronto skyline, and the team will wear its first home kit in 2017, according to a statement released by the team on Thursday.
The first game in the newly redesigned logo will be a home game against Montreal on April 23.
The design has been the subject of much debate over the years, with some fans calling for a rebranding of the logo to make it more inclusive.
Others, including former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, have suggested the team should just change the team color scheme to yellow.
